I just got back from buying the things that I mentioned. It's not exactly morning anymore, but early enough to not disrupt my plan. Everything appears to be going well so far.

The same can be said for my gluten experiment, by the way. I will remain skeptical until I've been eating the stuff for at least one week, but for now I'm perfectly fine. Again, I cannot believe this is happening. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop ...

What distracted me from going into town earlier was Stargate Atlantis. I finally started watching it a few days ago and appear to be completely addicted already. I knew I was going to like it because I dimly remembered seeing a few episodes on tv once and that I enjoyed those very much, but what I didn't expect was that it would make me feel all nostalgic.

Apparently I hadn't only watched a few episodes back then, and suddenly I remembered exactly when "back then" was, too. I also had no idea that what I'd seen was season 1. Out of the first seven episodes, the very first was the only one that I wasn't entirely sure felt familiar. Then the next one was new to me, the one after that wasn't, and in case of episodes 10 and 11 I was once again not quite sure.

As I watched these vaguely familiar (and seemingly twice as awesome as last time) characters do vaguely familiar things, memories from the group home unexpectedly started to come back to me.

Watching tv with the boys. The illusion of being part of a group. One of them being a total Stargate expert and explaining the entire backstory to us others, when Daniel and I had merely wanted to know what had happened during the episode or part of an episode that we'd missed. Getting more and more excited about the show each week. Being surprised that Daniel was just as excited as I was; K being happy that we liked it at all.

I don't know when the episodes will stop looking familiar; whether we watched the season to the end or not and whether the second even came on while we still lived there. I'm looking forward to discovering things that are new to me, but I'm also enjoying this vague familiarity a lot. I sure love the show on its own as well though - I'm not yet sure why, it just ... seems to be practically made for me, somehow. I love everything about it and all of the characters. ALL OF THEM. Almost equally except that McKay has always been my favourite and now I'm suddenly taking a shine to Sheppard instead. I think it's got something to do with his voice; on German tv it was dubbed and who knows how that influenced my impression of him.

Hahaha. Ever since I started watching Supernatural, I keep seeing the number 66 everywhere. For example, I just uploaded all of the icons that I made while I was offline and now I have a total of 66. By the way, does anyone know what will happen to them if my paid time runs out?? I searched the FAQ, but couldn't find anything on that.

... Yes, I've been watching Supernatural. I put it off for a long time because I'd heard some questionable things about it and was afraid I'd develop a sort of love-hate relationship with it or something (plus the previews never appealed to me back when I still had regular television*), but then I was running out of unwatched tv shows and figured why the hell not. My only other option would have been Heroes, which I am putting off for an entirely different reason (I already know the first season, but don't remember enough of it to just start with the second).

At first I actually did find it a little boring. Couldn't stand Dean, either. I kept watching because I had nothing else to do and it wasn't that bad, and then ... well. Then it got awesome? And, and ... and the MUSIC. And the X-FILES REFERENCES. Oh my, that one episode in season two still had me laughing three hours later. I'm not even exaggerating. And just, you know, the fact that it doesn't make me cry all the time like Doctor Who (sorry, Doctor - it's nothing personal). Then things got really exciting, too. And by season four? Do I even need to say it? One word: CASTIEL. If anyone ever had an argument, it's now invalid.

And then. Oh my. Sam and Dean discover fandom. XD How did that even manage to be so hilarious in the midst of all the drama that was going on?! I nearly died. "They do know we're brothers, right?" LMAO, right. I don't quite understand the Dean/Sam slash fans myself, though. It's not the brothers thing, just ... what are they seeing that I don't see?? Do I need to have my slash goggles looked at? ;)

Also, Dean trying to get Castiel to have sex with a woman. LOL FOREVER. I want a Castiel of my own, please. We could just sit around and look confused together all day.

I'm somewhere near the middle of season five now. Yay for long American seasons.

By the way, I also reread Good Omens recently and that was before I even knew what Supernatural was leading up to. What is it with me and the end of the world? Or angels and demons, for that matter? I had fun comparing the two different interpretations, though (for the record, GO wins).

*I suspect that was only because I was upset about The X-Files being over, though. I was like, "Oh great, so this is the new mystery show they're replacing it with? No thanks." XD
