Heh. So. Internets, I know what you speak of now. As of today I am finally familiar with this movie, and I have to say ... despite its popularity, I still hadn't expected to enjoy it that much. Maybe that's just me being overly excitable again, but I don't even care.

I was prepared for an interesting plot and the possibility of very likeable characters. I was not quite prepared to be rendered speechless. And that's although I watched the German dub without subtitles and basically didn't understand a single word that Saito said ...

Also, my poor brain had to work very hard. I estimate that I will have to rewatch it approximately three times to fully understand every scene. XD From now on in English though. With subtitles.

This is not exactly a proper review, is it? But then, my "reviews" never really are.

Funnily enough, I had an inexplicable urge to keep my hands busy before we started watching, so I grabbed one of my dice, which just happened to be red (but 20-sided), and fiddled with it throughout the movie. Those who have seen it will know why I felt mildly creeped out a few minutes in, ahaha. o.O

Erm, by the way - I have tentatively started to seek out Other People's Opinions on this and was rather confused when I saw that those people were saying there was a genderqueer character in it. At first I honestly had no idea who it could be, then I came across posts that mentioned names, and now I'm just trying to determine if I should be embarrassed for not noticing (although I'm really an expert at Not Noticing Things). :S Is that actually canon?

Not really. It could be. Canon doesn't specify anything in that area (in fact we get precious little to work with for *any* character), but this is actually a complicated point.

See, that person (I gather you don't want to spoil anyone reading the comments here? I'll try to keep it spoiler free.) is genderqueer as far as Aja (bookshop) is concerned, what with the blonde in the dress and everything, and Aja's opinion tends to be influential (I say that as one of her closest friends.). Many people take what she says more or less as gospel, others deliberately go in the opposite direction. I haven't seen the genderqueer debate anywhere else except on her LJ/DW and in reaction to her.
But I'm not really involved in Inception fandom right now, so ... ymmv.

Ah, okay. I had gathered that she was one of the people who thought this, but not that she might be the source of it. I never know where to start when I discover a new fandom, so at this point I'm basically just doing site searches on wildly chosen phrases. XD

(I'm not really worried about spoilers over here because most people still read my journal on LJ.)

I have some Eames meta in a file (not related to gender, because that is something that I, perhaps irrationally, almost never think about with regards to other people's gender OR my own), but the only thing I've really written was some Arthur meta back in September. Should really get around to answering the comments.

I've read your Arthur post, it was very informative! And it went nicely with effex's post about Yusuf. Now I feel like I only need to find similar ones for every other character and then I'll be all knowledgeable. :D

Heh. Well there are people on Delicious who have character tags, a la "char:arthur" etc. You can try your luck there.
