Here be dragons. I mean screencaps.
Told you there was going to be a post. Although, actually it is kind of rare for me to actually do the things I announce I am going to do, isn't it? At least not this soon.
Ignore the German subtitles in some of these. Also, I don't have any image editing software aside from Paint at the moment, but I still wanted to resize them because of my crappy connection, so I used this very basic little freeware thingie and thus there might be JPG ARTEFACTS OMG THE HORROR. :P

Meet Joanna Hawke, defender of all mages and lover of Anders. A typical first playthrough ... aside from the whole straight romance thing, ye gods. XD I realised way too late that most of the other pics I thought I had taken of her did not, in fact, get taken because the game has this weird habit of only starting to do that correctly after you've alt-tabbed out of fullscreen at least once. :| This is why I recently loaded one of the few earlier saves I still had and did a random quest to get another decent picture.

Endgame rogue armour FTW. Judging by how everyone is looking at the ground sadly, I think someone may have kicked a puppy or something. It's given Anders an eye twitch.

Here we've got the Templar-supporting Dean Hawke (who was honestly not named after Dean Winchester, I just found the name fitting), staring at his boyfriend ... with bonus Anders creepin' in the background. LOOK AT THE SHINY PRETTY FACE. HE WAS SO SHINY I KIND OF MISS HIM.

Once I paused the game and was greeted by the sight of some Amazing Flying Qunari.

This is Ava Hawke, who looks about 17 but very, very pretty. I made her a healer, a ridiculously nice person and perhaps somewhat naive. Which is actually almost necessary to have a friend!romance with Merrill, really.

EYEBROW. Also, UGLIEST CARVER EVER. It's probably just the hairstyle, but OMG WHY.

I started to collect funny faces around this point ...

*swoons* XD

And then I developed this strange tradition of always documenting that moment. The puppy has been kicked again, but Merrill seems unaffected.

Leon Hawke. Also not named after either Sir Leon or my brother. He was originally meant to be an Origins!Zevran lookalike until I deleted three attempts and gave up on that plan. Perhaps that's why I didn't quite know what to do with him - he's the character I abandoned.

Look at his Bethany, though. Huh. I decided that he must be taking after their father, whom we never see. XD (Yes, the two skintones are right next to each other, but do these people look related?!)

And then there's Simon Hawke, my faaavourite. At first I found him kind of ugly, but a) he grew on me as time went by and b) this is a flattering shot. I needed a crazy mage who would actually support Anders until the end to UNDO THE DAMAGE TO MY SOUL. Ahem. Also, offensive spells are so much fun.

Amazingly, these two do look related. :D

Look at him being all badass with his way too muscular arms for a mage. Also, Carver appears to be pining for Aveline lololol.

No comment necessary ...

THE KICKER OF PUPPIES RETURNS

I lol'd when this happened. Best position to freeze an enemy in, ever.

And finally, this is Amanda Hawke - cold-hearted opportunist and kind of a BAMF with a great big sword. She had a thing with Isabela first, then started a rivalry romance with Anders and cruelly dumped him when he asked to move in. D: I kind of regret this now because I would have liked to see the rest of their dialogues, but I was hoping I could pick things up with Isabela again. Not sure yet whether that's still possible, though she did appear after the Tragic Event Which Causes Your Partner To Comfort You (Sometimes Badly).
ETA: Ahaha, I never noticed that the entire love triangle was actually in the picture.

This one came with the ugliest Bethany ever. *raises eyebrow* You should see her up close, the pink eyeshadow really doesn't help ...

Looks as if they picked their armour to match their hair colours, doesn't it? XD
And thus concludes the Post of Way Too Many Pictures.
I love it when other people post their characters, by the way. It's always so interesting to see what kinds of facial features they chose.

Anyway, you make pretty Hawkes. Joanna reminds me of my first, Siri -- also a Rogue. Rogues are amazinnggg fun -- BACKSTAB! <3
And Amanda reminds me of Andraste -- also a redhead. I have a great screenshot with Aveline, Andraste, and Bran, the wonderfully sarcastic stewart, which I call "secretely, redheads rule Kirkwall."
Also, omg, Ava is seriously cute <3 "Teenagers in Kirkwall -- the Soap Opera"! haha. But yeah, wow, mugface Carver D:

I have always loved playing rogues. Whenever I start a game where that's an option, it's my first choice. I guess I just like being sneaky. :D This time I got distracted by trying out all the other classes' abilities, but my next character is going to be an archer because that's the only thing I haven't done yet.
Haha, I must admit I find Bran a bit annoying. I liked Captain "no thanks to you" Ewald - who mysteriously disappeared and was never seen again after that first encounter, apparently.

What do you know, I didn't realize one could have German subtitles and English VO.
Usually, rogues appeal to me on multiple levels:
- my weapon of coice is ranged (bows!)
- LOCK PICKING omg (I need to open ALL the chests!)
- traps, of course!
- poisons are fun <3
...so I was dismayed to realize one couldn't switch between short-and long ranged weapons in DA. >_>; oh well. Duel-wielding rogue it was, then. But! I admit I used to start off with warrior class first, because they're usually the easiest, but Dragon Age has totally thrown me off that -- I'm not too fond of weapon&shield in DAII, and and play a two-hand-specialization warrior when you have Fenris?
Bran is annoying, but he has every right to be. <3 I don't even remember who Captain Ewald is...oops :*

ALL the chests, ALL the doors and ALL the traps. *nods* Plus I happen to like daggers. IDK, it doesn't bother me that each character is limited to one weapon now because it makes things simpler. In Origins I always felt compelled to give absolutely everyone a ranged weapon just because the option was there, and then I naturally never had enough arrows. >.<; But I suppose it would be nice if at least the PC could have both at once.
What threw me off was when I had trouble with a difficult fight and considered setting out traps for the first time ever, only to find that it wasn't even an option anymore. Huh. Mind you, I never used traps in Origins, either ... but that was because I played on casual the entire time.
Captain Ewald ;)

I like how you made Ava's face look really different to the generic f!Hawke, I don't think it's just because she's a bit darker.

My general plan was to make her look as different from my first female character as possible. And I always spend a lot of time tweaking each face, so I guess I strayed very far from the preset in the process. I just didn't think she'd end up looking so young, hehe ...
