I have this plan, right.
Dec. 25th, 2010 11:25 pmI keep thinking about how I'll decorate my new flat once I've finally found one. (No news on that front, btw. Still waiting for a document or other to reach its destination - Mrs D is handling that part.)
Of course I won't be able to afford anything fancy, but I'm not particularly worried about that. One thing I have wanted to do from the beginning, for example, involves arranging fairy lights on the wall in a specific manner, so you can see I'm not really aiming for "fancy" in the first place.
Another thing I thought I'd do is to print out pictures of my favourite musicians to hang above where my CDs will be, as well as pictures of my favourite actors and video game characters above the DVDs and games (not that I have many - most I've played are Daniel's). I kind of feel too old for posters now that I have a child and all, which is probably a silly thought, but I'd rather hand-pick the pictures anyway instead of having to go with whatever happens to be available.
And, well ... whenever I ponder which pictures I'll choose (aside from the fact that I'll take artistic shots over adorable facial expressions because my goal is to make my living room look nice and not to cause myself to stare at the wall all day), this agenda creeps up on me. o.O I feel like I should use the opportunity to make my home a place where Timo (and any other guests, I suppose) will encounter images that you don't often see on magazine covers and such.
I want it to be a bit of a statement about myself, too. "Here, look, there's an almost equal amount of men and women on my wall because I like both." I wouldn't necessarily include many women without this extra motivational factor - my three favourite bands happen to consist of men after all. But this will be the first time I'll have my very own living room, so I want it to tell people stuff about me. (If they're paying attention, that is.)
Regarding the agenda, I'm mostly thinking of things such as outfits that defy gender norms, men being ~affectionate~ (THE HORROR!), women not trying to look sexy or Beth Ditto being fat and beautiful at the same time.
Basically it'll be an awesome wall, OK? :D
