Well, fuck.
Jan. 12th, 2012 12:27 pmI was recently informed that if I wanted to go back to school right now, I probably couldn't because my last grade average was too low. What is this crap? Good enough to get into 11th grade once, but not to do it again a few years later?? I always thought it was just a matter of getting well enough to try again.
And I mean, I'm not well enough to try again. But maybe in a few months I will be, or in another couple of years, and then what? Is there a way to, like ... do grade ten a third time?? Hell, I'd go even lower than that if I had to. It's not my fault that I tried to hang on for as long as I could and ended up with a few years of bad grades due to nobody knowing what was wrong with me.
Man, I know for a fact that this stuff is a lot less complicated in the UK and the USA. You study for specific tests and then you take them and the results qualify you for the next level of education. You can even decide to retake them if you feel like that would help. But at least at the time when I was still in school (lots of things have changed since then, I just don't know which) - and in the type of school that I went to - here in Germany it was more about advancing from one grade to the next without much fanfare. There were no big end-of-year exams. The entire year counted.
Blargh, why can't I simply move to the UK? This is the second thing in two or three days that has made me want to do that.
